Neil Armstrong |
Neil Armstrong was born in 1930. He got 2 collage degrees, one in aerospace,
the other in aerospace engineering. He was a pilot in the navy from 1949 to
1952. When he left the navy, he became a test pilot.
He was chosen to be an astronaut when he still was a test pilot. His
first flight was Apollo 8 which was the first attempt to land a man made
vehicle on the moon. It wasn't until Apollo 11 that he got to the
moon. Once there, he said:
"One small step for man, one giant leap for mankind."

John H. Glenn, jr. |
John Glenn jr. was born on July 18th, 1921. He was given his name in
honor of his father. he attended primary and secondary schools in New
Concord. he got 6 degrees in science. he received many medical degrees. he
fought in WWI and the Korean war as an air force pilot. he was in 27
missions.
In1962, he had his first flight. it was on "friendship 7", and was a
success. It circled the world 3 times in 4 hours, 55 minutes. |

Woody Hayes |
Wayne Woodrow "Woody" Hayes was once the coach for the Ohio State Buckeyes

Paul Newman |
Paul Newman was born in 1925 in Shaker Heights, near Cleveland. He is a
famous actor, director and philanthropist.
A few of the movies he was in are Cool Hand Luke, Butch Cassidy and
the Sundance Kid, and The Sting.
He is also known for Newman's Own Salad Dressings. He donates the money
he earns from them to charities.

Annie Oakley |
Annie Oakley was a famous sharpshooter, born in 1860. She taught herself how
to shoot at age 15, when her mother was about to lose her barn. Annie found
out she could shoot small animals, and with the money she earned, saved the
barn. later on in her life, she was adopted by an Indian chief. She was
given the name Waatania Cecilia, which means little sure shoot.
devastation entered her life in 1903. a lady claimed to be Annie Oakley,
and claimed to be cheating during the shooting matches. but Annie turned it
around. even though the story was printed in 55 different named newspapers,
she proved to all of them she was innocent, and sued all the news papers.
but, sadly, she was still sent to jail.

Jesse Owens |
Jesse Owens was born in 1913. He lived in a very poor family, and moved to
Ohio when he was nine. when he was asked his name, he said Jesse, which is
where his name comes from. When in college, he joined the track team. he
tied up with the current state record twice. he also did the long jump, with
an outcome of 23 feet and 9 inches.
all of the collages seemed to want him after that, but he went to Ohio
university. He graduated, and entered the Olympics. In the end, he wont he
gold.

Roy Rogers |
Roy Rogers was born in 1911, in Cincinnati. He was nicknamed "King of the
Cowboys" because he was the star of many movies and TV. He was part of the
country band The Sons of the Pioneers. One person he often co starred with
was Dale Evans, who he eventually married. He had a horse named trigger.

The Wright Brothers |
Wilber and Orville write were born In different years. Wilber was born
in 1867 in Idaho, and Orville was born in 1871 in Ohio. There main
inspiration was a toy rubber band flyer they got when they were boys. they
quickly began making copies of it. When Orville was in high school, he was
going to start a newspaper printing business, so he dropped out. It wasn't
until 1884 that they stopped the business. It was in that year they decided
the world needed wings.
They tested many planes between 1900 and 1904. it was in 1904 they
produced the worlds first practical airplane. they separated for a year,
Orville went to Europe, Wilber to Virginia. Wilber eventually reunited with
his brother in 1909.
